24 hour shopping for Croatian tourists?
13 August 2009Tourists visiting Croatia could be set to enjoy 24 hour shopping, with retailers now legally allowed to stay open all hours.
That is after a ruling by the Croatian Constitutional Court, which found a ban on Sunday shopping to be 'unconstitutional', according to the Croatian Times.
Croatian shopkeepers now have no legislation restricting the number of hours they can stay open, which could lead to all-night shopping for those visiting the popular holiday destination.
Worker rights will now be inspected in areas throughout the country to ensure that employers are recognising laws surrounding time off.
These stipulations include at least one rest day per week and extra pay for Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Croatian tourism has been bolstered recently by the news that several of its main attractions have welcomed thousands of visitors.
