Accommodation Croatia: High-speed wireless provider looks across Adriatic
28 March 2008People who choose to rent an apartment or villa in Croatia in the coming months can look forward to high-speed internet access in their accommodation.
Communications giant WiMax Telecom has selected Alcatel-Lucent to supply the country's first WiMax network, beginning in Split and Osijek before being rolled out around other regions.
"With their proven technical capabilities and strong market position, Alcatel-Lucent is the perfect partner for us as we roll out one of the world's most advanced 'triple-play' WiMax networks in Croatia," explained Peter Ziegelwanger, chief technology officer of WiMax Telecom.
He pointed out that "an exciting range of cutting-edge wireless applications" will become available as a result of the development, with holidaymakers and residents alike able to choose from a wide selection of innovative end-user devices to avail of the technology.
The new Croatia network will enable the simultaneous delivery of multiple video and audio streaming channels.
Leading TV firm the Eurosport Group also recently announced plans to provide Croatia and a number of other eastern European countries with access to some of the most popular sports channels on the box.
