Accommodation in Croatia 'offers a taste of the French Riviera'
17 September 2010People staying in accommodation on Croatia's Dalmatian coast will feel like they are enjoying a break on the French Riviera, such are the similarities between the regions.
That is the view of Mike Webster, writing for CNN, who says the country, which borders the Adriatic Sea, has built a reputation as the east's answer to the glamorous area in southern France.
This is arguably reflected in the calibre of celebrities who have spent time on holiday in Croatia.
Famous faces to have been spotted include Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan and Gwyneth Paltrow, while Clint Eastwood and Sharon Stone have attempted to purchase their own private island, the author states.
But it is not only its internationally-famous visitors that the Dalmatian coast is known for, as the iconic red roofs and fine stone features are also popular with travellers.
Arguably the premier resort on the Dalmatian coast is Dubrovnik, where holidaymakers can scale the city's walls that date back to the 12th century.
