Air carrier launches Osijek route
24 February 2009The budget carrier Ryanair has announced a new route to the Croatian destination Osijek.
As part of an announcement today (February 24th), the Irish-based airline revealed that it would be running a new route from Frankfurt Hahn Airport to Croatia's fourth-largest city.
The decision marks another tourism boost for the Adriatic country, after British Airways earlier this month opted to cut prices on some of its routes from New York to the Adriatic resort of Dubrovnik.
Flights to the Slavonian city should prove popular with both tourists and business travellers, due to Osijek's rich cultural heritage and variety of attractions.
Among Osijek's charms are its traditional Croatian cuisine - such as its paprika-flavoured sausage and fish stews - and local beers, Osjecko and Esseker.
Earlier this week, a representative from the UK's Croatian Tourist Board lauded the former Yugoslav nation's combination of unrivalled natural beauty and impressive infrastructure.
