Airport near Dubrovnik tops vote

Cilipi Airport, which is located close to Dubrovnik, has come out on top of a recent poll to name the best hub in Croatia.

Readers of the Croatian Times voted in the ballot and it was Cilipi which received 43.2 per cent of the vote.

According to the newspaper, it was mainly foreign nationals who were involved in the study, which suggests this research is a good way of assessing tourists' attitudes to Croatia's international gateways.

Resnik Airport, which is situated close to the Dalmatia city of Split, came second in the poll with 25 per cent of the votes, while Zagreb's Pleso Airport and Krk Airport received 22.8 per cent and nine per cent respectively.

In other airport-related news, this week sees the restart of Jat Airways' Belgrade to Dubrovnik route after almost 20 years of no service.

There will be two flights a week and it follows the re-launch of a Belgrade-Pula route last year.
