Attend the Motovun Film Festival in Croatia

Holidaymakers jetting off to Croatia this year will have the chance to attend one of the country's best festivals.

According to flight search site Skyscanner, the Motovun Film Festival is one of Europe's best "alternative" events and a must-see for film buffs staying in Croatian villas.

The festival, which is now in its tenth year, opens today (July 27th) and runs until the end of the month.

Previously described by the Guardian as a "cross between Glastonbury and Sundance", the festival takes place in a mountain village with just 531 residents.

"A small event in a small village, Motovun is dedicated to showing small films but is massively popular on the cult film scene, drawing hundreds of visitors who camp out in the hills for the grand sum of £1," Skyscanner noted.

Meanwhile, figures published by the Post Office last week revealed that Croatia is one of the cheapest European destinations for British holidaymakers looking to jet abroad this summer.
