BA celebrates 90th birthday

British Airways, which services both Dubrovnik and Split in Croatia, has celebrated its 90th birthday.

The airline has admitted that it is going through one of its most turbulent times at present after posting a loss of £401 million last year, but nevertheless it has survived for nine decades.

Chairman of the company Martin Broughton said: "Over the past nine decades, British Airways has played its part in many historic episodes.

"We have a rich history supporting Britain and will carry this forward to our centenary and beyond."

Tourists who are using the airline to visit the holiday hotspot of Croatia may find themselves able to bag a bargain due to the company offering cheaper seats in an effort to manage losses.

In a tough time for European tourism, Croatia has showed surprising buoyancy with record amounts of people visiting the country in the fourth week of August compared to previous years, according to the Croatian Times.
