Baroque ensemble to play Rijeka

The acclaimed Croatian Baroque Ensemble is to perform its classic concertos in Rijeka tonight (March 6th).

According to the tourism website Opatija.net, the collective will play renditions of works by Antonio Vivaldi, Henry Purcell and Biagio Marini, among others, at the coastal resort's St Vitus Cathedral.

Music lovers will likely be keen to see the performance for violinist Laura Vadjon and conductor Sasa Britvis alone, with the former described as the "artistic leader" of the ensemble.

Opatija.net wrote: "Due to extremely proficient, stylistically pure and virtuoso interpretations, they are considered to be a superb Croatian musical performing group, both by musical critics and the audience."

As well as Croatia, the group has put on shows in a number of other European destinations, including Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia as well as Cuba.

Staying in Croatia, the Adriatic resort of Opatija recently played host to the Miss Universe Croatia competition, where 20-year-old economist Sarah Crosic beat off other contestants for a cash prize.
