Beautiful beaches 'important part of unforgettable holiday in Split'

Accommodation in Split is perhaps the perfect base from which to explore Croatia, if one expert's comments are anything to go by.

Vicki Joyce, writing a piece for AZ Central, explains there are numerous highlights both in the city and nearby.

She suggests flying to Split – located in the heart of the Dalmatian coast – for an "amazing and unforgettable trip".

From there, the idyllic beaches of islands such as Hvar and Brac – both of which can be reached with a short ferry ride – are perfect day trip destinations.

Indeed, the Adriatic islands will also offer an enjoyable sample of authentic Croatian culture, Ms Joyce suggests, with other options including Korcula and Krk.

And for those with a hire car, a drive down to the ancient city of Dubrovnik should be on the itinerary – but only after people have finished exploring the historic passageways of Split.

Arguably the main attraction in Split is Diocletian's Palace, which was built in approximately 295 AD.
