Biba provides more insurance guidance

The British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) has warned British holidaymakers that any accidents they have when under the influence of alcohol may not be covered by insurance firms.

People travelling on their summer holidays in the coming weeks to destinations such as Croatia should be aware that some travel cover policies can often be rendered useless in the event of a drunken mishap.

Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive for Biba, said: "If someone was completely irresponsible and exceedingly out of order then why should an insurer compensate them for their unreasonable actions?"

Some decisions over whether to pay out a travel insurance claim will be dependent on whether the customer was in control of themselves, he added.

Travel cover policies are important for any trip abroad and Croatia is no different, especially with some of the exciting water-sports visitors may wish to indulge in off the Adriatic coast.
