Bill Gates takes Croatia vacation
29 June 2009Bill Gates recently took a family holiday in Croatia, it has been revealed.
One of the world's richest people, the founder of technology giant Microsoft visited Skradin alongside wife Melinda and his three children.
A number of friends as well as security guards accompanied the family during their break in Croatia.
Arriving in a nine-metre-long speedboat, the Dalmatia holiday saw the family spend a couple of hours walking around the waterfalls of the Krka River at Krka National Park.
Meanwhile, Mr Gates took the time to purchase a number of souvenirs and a book while at the park.
It was also revealed he had intended to enter Skradin on his luxury yacht for this part of his Croatia holiday. However, the vessel was too large for local ports.
Those wishing to follow in the footsteps of the Gates family by taking in a visit to Skradin will find a host of narrow paved passages, streets and stairs in the Mediterranean town, with houses dating as far back at the 18th century.
Meanwhile, Skradin Town Museum contains items ranging from the pre-historic artefacts to the Middle Ages.
