Biometric passport 'a possibility for Croatians'
22 May 2009Biometric passports may be introduced in Croatia later this year, according to new reports.
Javno.com claims that diplomatic and official biometric documentation may be brought in as early as July, while other citizens would update their current travel details at the start of 2010.
New passports would come with an electronic holder of information containing face biometrics and fingerprints from the individual's hands. ID numbers will also be included on the document.
The report did not reveal if these rule changes will affect people who take a holiday to Croatia and have to move through the country's numerous airports.
Research from the Post Office would suggest that there could be a high number of Britons dusting down their passports and heading on a Croatian vacation this year.
A study indicated that the kuna currency has been one of its biggest sellers in 2009 so far.
