Blue Volcano Stadium could persuade tourists to book a holiday in Zagreb
07 January 2010People travelling to Zagreb in years to come will be able to visit the Blue Volcano Stadium which, it has been revealed, will have a mysterious green cloud hanging over it.
The state-of-the-art sports and concert arena is being made in an environmentally-friendly way, reports Gizmodo.com, which may explain the green cloud planned to hover above its roof.
Sitting in the heart of Zagreb, Blue Volcano Stadium will be made of steel, recycled rubber and polycarbonate materials.
The cloud also has a more practical purpose, according to the website which states: "In addition to its teched-out features, the cloud is also intended to provide protection from rain and snow without requiring an all-out dome design."
With the eye-catching arena due to open in 2012, sports and music fans may wish to push Croatia to the top of their must-visit destinations.
Zagreb has a history of staging top-class events - with its largest football team Dinamo Zagreb competing in this season's Europa League and music icons Jose Carreras, the Pet Shop Boys and Metallica all visiting in recent months or due to arrive in 2010.
