Blue seas 'are a highlight of Dubrovnik holidays'
24 June 2011Taking a holiday in Dubrovnik offers tourists a range of joys and pleasures, but perhaps none so great as swimming in the blue seas of the Adriatic.
According to the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, the waters around the historic city are said to be the bluest point on Earth when viewed from outer space.
There is also great variety in the types of beaches available to visitors, with some offering a shallow and sandy profile, while others are coarser and based on pebbles.
It is suggested by the tourism body that the result of this is that Dubrovnik offers something to everybody, with young children, romantic couples and large families equally well catered for.
And it is not only on the mainland that wonderful coastal spots can be enjoyed, as the island of Lopud is renowned as being home to one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in the region.
