Booking Croatian villa for fish festival 'is perfect way to enjoy country's cuisine'
25 February 2010Sampling the culinary delights of a country can rank highly on the list of priorities for many holidaymakers - which may make a fish festival particularly relevant to those on a break in Croatia next month.
Travellers to Croatia on March 27th and 28th will be able to tuck in to the fish-based meals cooked up by locals or take a rod and bait to the sea or a specially-made pool and catch their own dinner.
"Freshwater fish is a true gourmet delight and additionally, freshwater fishing spells a romantic atmosphere," states the Croatian National Tourist Board.
Booking a Croatian villa in Koprivnica-Krizevci County could be the best way to secure a base from which to enjoy the weekend festival.
It is thought that approximately 600 litres of fish stew - using fish from Croatia's rivers and the Adriatic Sea - will be made over the two days, with much of it set to be enjoyed by those on a Croatian holiday.
Wine lovers may also find Croatia to be their ideal holiday destination, with the country offering a significant number of vineyards and earlier this month staging a Wine Gourmet Festival.
