Booking a Croatian villa 'is just the easy part'
03 February 2010Securing accommodation - such as a Croatian villa - and locating the airport are the simple parts of a Croatian holiday, but much more in-depth research should be done to gain the best experience, if one tourism expert is to be believed.
Alain de Botton, the acclaimed writer and philosopher, believes travellers should do more than just the basics in order to get the most out of the country they are visiting.
He says: "Travel should be broadened from the thing that you do when you go to an airport to anything that takes you outside your comfort zone and introduces you to something new."
People heading on a Croatian holiday in 2010 may wish to consider Mr de Botton's opinion that tourists should spend more time on why they are going rather than where they are going.
Spending time to mull over what is required from a trip before diving into the Adriatic Sea or taking a look around Dubrovnik could pay dividends.
According to travelsupermarket.com, 16 per cent more people are thinking of going on holiday than they were a year ago.
