Brazilians triumph in Split
09 June 2008Bruno Prada and Robert Schedit sailed home to victory as the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) 2008 Eastern Hemisphere Championship came to a close yesterday.
The Brazilian pair triumphed over a number of fellow competitors all set for the Beijing Olympics, sailing.co.uk reports.
According to the ISAF website, the regatta was a "productive final battle of the Titans" before the Games in two months time.
It was watched by a passionate Croatian crowd, who it is said showed their allegiance and got ready to support their national football team by wearing red and white chequered tops and caps to the event.
The ISAF stated Labud Yachting Club "did an excellent job of hosting the regatta" and made the most of the "unusual wind conditions" for June.
Although there were rainy conditions during the week, visitors were able to enjoy the Mediterranean climate the ISAF had promised on the final day at least.
