Britons could head to Croatia for wedding
28 August 2009British couples are increasingly heading abroad to countries such as Croatia to save money on their nuptials.
According to data released by Mintel, 16 per cent of British weddings now take place abroad with the trend increasing in popularity be 43 per cent since 2003.
Andrea Ventress, deputy editor at Wedding, has spoken about the reasons behind the change.
She said: "It is still popular because it is still a much cheaper option. It does depend where you go.
"Their friends and families can take it as a holiday and going to the wedding in between. Because you're not having a hundred guests, you're just having close friends and family, that hugely reduces your costs."
It was recently revealed by the International Currency Exchange (ICE) that Britons can get 11.29 per cent more Croatian kunas to the pound than they could in January of this year.
This has led Croatia to being listed as one of the top-ten best value destinations by ICE.
