Brits keen on shorter breaks
07 September 2009More people are now heading out on shorter breaks instead of a longer two week-holiday.
That is according to Visa Europe, which found that 25 per cent would not be booking a traditional lengthy break.
Frances Tuke, spokeswoman for ABTA - The Travel Association, has suggested that people are "generally" taking shorter holidays with European cities such as Zagreb or Paris among the most popular choices of destination.
"There are still a lot of people taking overseas holidays too," she said. "Any major European cities are big on the short break front."
Earlier this month, Hotels.com found that last minute holidays to Split in Croatia had seen a huge increase in popularity, with searches for the destination up 400 per cent on 2008.
As it is only a short plane ride away, Croatia is one of the hottest new locations to holiday in for UK visitors.
Even celebrities are getting in on the act, with former James Bond actor Sir Roger Moore seen vacationing in Dubrovnik recently
