Brits 'make retirement plans in Croatia'
01 July 2008Low cost air travel and affordable property is leading many Brits to make retirement plans in Croatia, it has been revealed.
Retirees have been cautioned they must create inheritance tax migration plans to fit in with the laws of the country, financedaily.co.uk reports.
According to the WAY Group, this is "extremely important" as unmanaged inheritance tax could lead to the loss of money and property in the future.
Paul Wilcox, founding director of the group, told the website altered domicile status without a tax migration strategy could be "financially disastrous".
He added: "It's vital to be aware that wherever you go and whatever tax regime you may be affected by in your new country of residence, you may still incur IHT within the UK as well, possibly on the same assets."
Meanwhile, Spanish airline Iberia is the latest airline to offer flights to Croatia.
Anna Aero reported its new Dubrovnik to Madrid route will be operational twice a week, on Saturdays and Sundays.
