Budget airlines 'to provide flights for Croatian holidays'
24 February 2010Holidaymakers setting off on a Croatia vacation this year could save money by using UK discount airlines, which have announced more flights to the country.
Both Ryanair and easyJet, which provide air travel at up to 50 per cent less than other airlines, will boost the number of connections between European and US locations and Zagreb airport, located in the south-east of the capital city.
The Daily Vjesnik reports that Tonci Peovic, director of Zagreb airport, is in talks with the two firms after completing negotiations for more flights with Spanish operator Spainair recently.
Mr Peovic told the newspaper that Croatia needs to catch up with the rest of Europe in the offering of low-cost air travel, adding that an increase of 30 per cent more budget flights are set to come to the country.
Lufthansa - one of Europe's largest passenger carriers - recently announced that it is expanding its base in Dusseldorf, Germany, by offering new routes to travellers heading to the Croatian city of Dubrovnik.
