Loving couples heading to Croatia for the Valentine's weekend have been offered advice by bishops in the country on how to create the perfect romantic break.

Among the tips handed out at the Croatian Conference of Bishops were ordering pizza in the shape of a heart and writing 'I Love You' on the bathroom mirror in the morning, reports the Croatian Times.

Adventurous couples may want to hire a sports car for a few days and speed off into the Croatian countryside, or motor along the Adriatic coast.

Even reciting a Shakespeare poem on the cobbles of Dubrovnik or Split may be especially romantic.

According to the newspaper, the conference concluded that it hopes those on a Croatian holiday find an activity that suits them.
