Celebrate female circus acts on holiday in Croatia

A holiday in Croatia later this month could provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate the history of female circus performers.

The Festival novog cirkusa in Zagreb from November 26th to 30th is a chance to note women's contribution to the history of the circus.

According to the organisers, this is often overlooked by male historians - even those who note that women performers have appeared in the circuses of the past.

However, they add that women were the pioneers of circuses with no animals.

Festival novog cirkusa, or New Circus Festival, aims to highlight the "outstanding influence" that women have had during the history of the travelling form of entertainment.

An itinerary of live performances also awaits those who holiday in Croatia for the event, helping to add a contemporary touch to the look back at female performers throughout history.

Tickets are already on sale from outlets around Zagreb, including Integral, Profil Megastore and the Festival center - French Mediatheque.
