Climbing enthusiasts set to flock to Croatia
23 April 2008Climbing enthusiasts looking for a May Day bank holiday break, may be interested in the Big Wall Speed Climbing event held in Croatia this weekend.
The competition sees international climbers form all over the world descend on Croatia and has been ongoing since 2000.
Held in the Velika Paklenica canyon, the event is officially called the "Mammut Big Wall Speed Climbing - PAKLENICA 2008".
As well as the competition and various climbing events, there will also be slide shows, presentations and an outdoor gear fair.
Running at the same time as the event, which features competitions for children as well as adults, will be the first Paklenica Film Festival.
The gathering will be taking place from May 1st to May 4th.
Paklenica is a national park in northern Dalmatia in Croatia and is not far from Zadar. Among its attractions are the biggest rock in Croatia which is 712 metres.
