Construction starts on Croatian shopping centre
16 September 2009Construction has started on an eight million euro shopping centre in Croatia.
Park & Shop, which will be the biggest shopping centre in the region between Split and Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, will be completed in 2010, the Croatian Times has reported.
Vedran Malencia, an investor behind the centre, said: "After we finish the first phase of building, Park & Shop will have 11,000 sq m.
"In the second phase that will start in a year, we will add 6,500 sq m of floor space."
When construction has finished, more than 500 Dalmatian residents will be employed in the various bars, shops, restaurants and cafes that will be housed in the building.
Croatia is an excellent place to shop, with the Virtual Tourist website urging people to try the speciality food and wine shops found in the Split and Dubrovnik areas.
Among the things that the website suggests tourists should buy is the paprenjak, a special type of Croatian biscuit.
