Could Croatia provide the ultimate flying holiday?

A holiday in Croatia has been put forward as a particularly good idea for those who enjoy flying.

The Croatian National Tourist Board states there are a number of flying and paragliding groups in the country that offer tours and competitions in the skies.

Some tourists could consider an aerial view of Croatia as a special one, with the nation boasting a number of historic monuments, natural features and the turquoise seas of the Adriatic - all of which may be particularly beautiful from above.

"You can fly in a balloon from Medvednica towards Hrvatsko zagorje, Samoborsko gorje and Zumberak all the way towards Slavonia," the organisation suggests.

Meanwhile, those who prefer to let the wind do the work may wish to visit the mountains of Dalmatia's hinterland, which are suitable for a range of airborne activities.

Reaching the country in the first place could not be simpler, with a host of airlines – from easyJet to British Airways and BMI – offering flights to Croatia.
