Could chess lure travellers to Dubrovnik?

There are many aspects of Dubrovnik that are sure to appeal to tourists, from its fine architecture to historic sights and attractions.

One thing that may not immediately come to mind when imagining a holiday in Croatia is chess.

However, that is exactly what will be taking centre stage in Dubrovnik next month, when the Blitz Chess Tournament gets underway on July 27th, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board noted.

Due to take place at the Dubrovnik Chess Club, the event is likely to attract players from far and wide, whether to compete or to simply watch how the experts play the game.

With the action scheduled to begin at 18:00 local time, visitors might wish to build their Dubrovnik holiday around July 27th to ensure they are settled by the time the first game starts.

Another event confirmed by the tourist board is a concert by the Dubrovnik String Quartet, which is set for July 20th in the city.
