Could people soon travel to Croatia for pyramids of Dubrovnik?
01 March 2011Tourists travelling to Croatia in the months and years to come could be adding a new attraction to their itineraries – the pyramids of Dubrovnik.
Sea captain and hobby Egyptologist Perio Metkovic believes there are structures similar to those found in Giza, just outside Cairo, in the Croatian city, reports the Croatian Times.
He suggests the pyramids were built by the Iliryan people hundreds of years ago and now lie below the Lapad region.
"The outlines of large stone blocks that, unlike the Egyptians, are laid at an angle rather than horizontally, testify to the legacy of the Iliryan culture," Mr Metkovic is quoted by the newspaper as saying.
He adds his guided tours business may soon be in a position to start offering a professional look around the structures for holidaymakers.
The Hindu recently described a holiday in Dubrovnik as a sight to behold and a winner for fans of beauty.
