Couple discuss Split trip
29 September 2009A couple on a sailing holiday have highlighted the time that they spent in the Croatian city of Split.
Mark Farrell and Amanda Church wrote on the website sail-world.com about their adventures and noted that the city was a brilliant place to visit.
Picking out some of their favourite holiday memories, the couple mentioned seeing the walls of Split, which they claimed looked slightly dishevelled during the day time but took on "a whole new image" at night.
They also highlighted the "excellent daily market
pizzerias and gelato stalls" in the city which make it a place not to be missed.
The pair visited during a Roman festival week, where centurions re-encated the invasion of Split and ancient-themed stalls and street theatres took over the city.
"Split was buzzing," they recalled.
The city is the largest in Dalmatia and has a wide range of things to do and see, including the bell tower of the ancient cathedral and the statue of Gregory of Nin.
