Critically-acclaimed wine could be enjoyed on Croatian holiday
25 January 2010Wine produced in Croatia has been praised by a leading connoisseur - which may force lovers of the drink to book a Croatian holiday.
Gary Vaynerchuk, who hosts an online show about wine in the Balkans, picked out
Zlatan Plavac Barrique 2004 as his particular favourite, according to the Croatian Times.
The Wine Library presenter suggested that the wine was so good he will use it on Thanksgiving Day this year.
However, some wine fans may be confused by his comparison of the bottle's aroma with that of a zebra, as explained by the newspaper.
Mr Vaynerchuk said the Zlatan Plavac Barrique gave him a "real sensation" - and those considering a Croatian holiday may be lured in by the promise of more wine from the country.
The drink picked out by the expert is produced on Hvar - a holiday hotspot island just off Croatia in the Adriatic Sea.
Earlier this month the Tips From The T-List website suggested that Hvar is the perfect destination for everyone from budget travellers to millionaire yacht owners.
