Croatia Travel: Tourist numbers and satisfaction increasing
20 May 2008
Rising numbers of people are visiting Croatia and are "more and more satisfied" by what they witness, according to an expert.
Visnja Arambasec, editor of the In Your Pocket guide to the country, said growing tourism could be attributed to a range of factors.
Cultural tourism is regarded as a main attraction, with people increasingly happy with the range of activities and sites on offer.
Ms Arambasesc said Zagreb is of particular interest due to its historical attractions and the range of concerts and heritage events it offers.
She continued: "Outside of Zagreb, a lot of people visit the country as there are a lot of castles around, as well as nature and domestic food."
The number of foreign tourists to Croatia in the first three months of the year increased by 30 per cent on the same period in 2007, according to official statistics.
Almost a fifth of the 285,688 visitors to the country travelled from nearby Italy, while 7,370 were Brits.
