Croatia and Montenegro emerging as 'top-end tourist destinations'
30 April 2009Croatia and neighbouring Montenegro have been tipped as being among the hottest destinations for property investment over the next couple of years, with soaring tourist numbers likely to push values up considerably.
While a number of world property markets have experienced a decline in demand over recent months, a new report in the US publication Business Week suggested that now might be the time to buy in 'hotspots' like Croatia and Montenegro.
The magazine cited Adam Challis, associate director at CB Richard Ellis, who argued that countries along the Adriatic coast are fast emerging as major tourism destinations, a view supported by the growing demand for Croatia villa holidays.
"Montenegro is fast establishing itself as a high-end [tourist] destination," he said, adding that the country has seen a 28 per cent annual rise in visitor numbers since the start of 2001.
Along with the relatively unspoiled coastline, Montenegro has become more popular with tourists like those on Croatian villa holidays thanks partly to its appearance in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale.
