Croatia could be 2010's honeymoon hotspot
06 January 2010The increasing number of couples set to ditch a long-haul honeymoon in favour of a romantic European break may want to consider Croatia as their post-wedding destination.
According to Wedding Ideas magazine, more couples in 2010 will opt for a shorter break straight after tying the knot and then save up for a round-the-world adventure at a later date.
Croatia - with its plethora of unspoilt beaches, snowy mountains, history-rich cities and beautiful countryside - could be the perfect choice for any newlyweds.
Rachel Southwood, director at the magazine, said: "It's also going to be a snowy or city break kind of year as people demand more from their honeymoon than just a beautiful beach."
Couples opting for a short-haul break are in good company, as it has been revealed that actor Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan took a smaller holiday - dubbed a minimoon - after they wed recently.
According to Hotels.com, 57 per cent of couples head off on holiday immediately after their wedding.
