Croatia enjoys booming visitor numbers
04 August 2009More than one and a half million tourists entered Croatia last weekend (August 1st and 2nd), according to new data.
The figures, released by the Ministry of Interior and reported in the Croatian Times, represented a 25,000 increase year-on-year on the first weekend of August last year.
This goes some way to demonstrating the emergence of Croatia as one of Europe's best value holiday locations.
Within the 1.5 million people were 1,270,000 foreign tourists, who had travelled from all around the world to enjoy Croatia's numerous attractions.
The highest numbers of visitors was reported on Saturday with some 618,000 entering the southern European nation.
According to the Post Office Beach Barmometer Croatia is one of the best value destinations for holidaymakers this summer.
Families can enjoy a meal out with two adults and two children for an average price of £41.41 in Crotia, a sum that is significantly higher in other destinations such as Italy.
