Croatia has 'plenty to offer in winter season'
05 November 2008Summer hotspots like Croatia are more pleasant during the off season because there are less traffic jams, quieter beaches and more available restaurants, it has been reported.
It is also cheaper to travel to the country during the autumn and winter months as prices can be doubled or tripled in July and August, Newsweek.com says.
Croatia is a trendy summertime playground but during the winter months when it is cooler there is more chance to take part in outdoor activities.
John Lennon, a professor of tourism, told the source increasingly destinations which are seasonal are attempting to stretch their season and get people to come all year.
"It is all about selling the benefits like it being less crowded, easier to move around and actually getting to see the architecture," he added.
Split runs ferries to the islands such as Hvar and Brac every day and tourists can go whitewater rafting down the Cetina River or hike in the Biokovo Mountains, the source says.
