Croatia holiday destination recommended for weddings
04 June 2009The island of Korcula, which is located in the southern part of the Dalmatia region in Croatia, has been highlighted as one of the top places to hold a wedding abroad.
Europeans planning on tying the knot in the near future may wish to take note of the Observer's list of special but inexpensive destinations to get married.
According to the newspaper, the Dalmatia holiday location is a "tranquil" island, which is famed for its "elegant Venetian architecture".
The publication also suggested that Korcula has "beautiful beaches".
Croatia's holiday island was in good company because other top wedding destinations described by the Observer included the Cook Islands, Sicily and Vienna.
Back in 2003, the same newspaper offered an emotive description of Korcula in another holiday review.
It stated: "Korcula town is a mini-fortress enclosed with honey-coloured stone walls that contain hidden treasures, from icons to Tiepolos, as well as architectural delights in every narrow, cobbled street."
