Croatia holiday 'is ideal for cyclists of all tastes'
20 July 2010Whether a cross-country trek or ride on an asphalted road is the choice of a cyclist, they will find all they are looking for on holiday in Croatia.
That is the view of the Croatian National Tourist Board, which suggests the country offers a "huge variety of ideal trails for everyone's taste".
There is, of course, also the possibility of taking two-wheeled transport on a seaside path and exploring the Dalmatian coast by bike.
According to the organisation, five-time Tour de France winner Eddy Mercx once said it would be "wonderful if a big race was ridden" in Croatia, such is the nation's offering of tracks.
People who want a little activity in their summer holiday may therefore be wise to book a Croatian villa and see whether Mercx is right to hold the country in such esteem.
Croatia boasts approximately 1,200 islands off its Adriatic coastline - some of which could also be navigated by bike.
