Croatia holiday 'is perfect romantic getaway'

People looking for somewhere to spend a few days with their partner have been advised Croatia holidays are up there with the most romantic in Europe.

Kerri Westenberg, replying to a reader's question for the Kansas City Star, explained the country encapsulates the beauty of Italy, the history of Greece and the romance of Paris.

She noted Split is a particularly good choice of destination, with the ancient ruins of Diocletian's Palace sure to be a highlight for lovers.

Elsewhere in Croatia, Dubrovnik is described as "one of the most stunning cities in the Mediterranean" and an historic masterpiece.

Ms Westenberg went on to suggest those seeking an active holiday may like to look further north in the nation, such as to Plitvice Lakes National Park, where walking is widely enjoyed.

Meri Matesic, director at the Croatian National Tourist Office, recently identified the islands of Korcula and Kornati as beautiful spots to head to while on a Croatia holiday.
