Croatia holiday 'still an undiscovered gem'

Taking a holiday in Croatia remains a largely undiscovered option, despite its significant range of advantages.

Meri Matesic, UK director at the Croatian National Tourist Office, says the country alongside the Adriatic Sea has been growing increasingly popular in recent years.

She points to its proximity to London - resorts such as Split, Dubrovnik and Zadar are only two hours by air from the English capital - as a factor in the growing demand to travel to Croatia.

"With more than 1000 islands, great gastronomy and great summer festivals, Croatia is an undiscovered Mediterranean destination," the expert states.

However, with the country yet to be overrun with tourists, those who do visit are still afforded an authentic experience.

According to recent research by the Post Office, the Croatian kuna was the best-selling money for people heading to Europe between June and August, making it one of the top-ten fastest-growing currencies for the second year in succession.
