Croatia holidaymakers 'should explore coast by boat'

People enjoying a villa holiday in Croatia may enjoy travelling by boat to the country's seaside towns and islands during their stay.

Luxury travel blog Paradizo suggested that the "charming port town" of Split is worth a visit, as holidaymakers can explore its "labyrinthine network of cobblestone streets" and Roman walls.

The beaches of Korcula, meanwhile, were described as "dreamy", while the "sparkling island" of Cres is also worth taking in.

Last month, Independent writer Frank Partridge wrote that people staying on Cres during their Croatia holiday may be able to sport a griffon vulture, as an colony of endangered birds is being protected on the island.

He added that "adventurous" holidaymakers could have a "field day" on a visit to the island, as it has a large freshwater lake and plenty of trails for hikers and bird-watching enthusiasts.
