Croatia holidays 'are winning choice of summer 2010'
07 September 2010As the summer holiday season draws to a close, Croatia has emerged as the top destination for those travelling abroad in the summer of 2010.
The Post Office Travel Money's currency bestsellers league table notes Croatia was the top place to be buying foreign money for this year.
One benefit of choosing Croatia in 2010 was the recovery of sterling in recent months, which means those heading to the Dalmatian coast typically got six per cent more for their money.
"It seems that some holidaymakers were still reluctant to travel to the eurozone, which helped to boost demand elsewhere in Europe. Croatia has been gaining ground as a result for some time," explains Sarah Munro, head of travel money at the Post Office.
With a combination of warm weather, beautiful coastal resorts and lush countryside, the country's success may come as no surprise to those who have visited.
Among the highlights is the ancient city of Dubrovnik, which was recently visited by Hollywood star Morgan Freeman.
