Croatia holidays can include unusual ploughing event
17 May 2011Tourists searching for something a little different this summer could look towards a Croatia holiday for all the fun and entertainment they require.
That is because the World Ploughing Competition is coming to the country, with more than 1,000 of the world's greatest ploughing enthusiasts set to attend, reports the Croatian Times, following a pieceby Jutarnji List.
Due to take place from September 6th to 17th in the town of Biograd, the festival will be given the run of some 30 hectares of land.
Croatia officially took over the responsibility of hosting the next competition at a special ceremony in Sweden over the weekend, the newspaper notes.
The contest hit the headlines several years ago when Prince Charles performed the official opening when it was held in Northern Ireland.
According to the same publication, Croatia is also due to host Dance Week Festival, which gets underway on the 24th of this month.
