Croatia holidays 'to become even more popular with sailors'

Sailors from around the world are likely to show even greater interest in taking holidays in Croatia over the coming months and years.

That is the view of Meri Matesic, director at the Croatian National Tourist Office, who says those with nautical blood are already fans of the country.

However, she admits planned improvements to the infrastructure of ports – such as the one in Dubrovnik – will attract even more sailing enthusiasts.

"Croatia enjoys a long summer and these months tend to be popular with sailors – early May to mid October," Ms Matesic adds, suggesting it is the combination of beautiful seas, numerous islands to explore and high-quality docking areas that make the Dalmatian coast so highly sought after.

Everybody from serious sailors to those with a love for the sea may wish to time their holidays in Croatia in 2011 to coincide with either the Croatia Boat Show in April or October's Biograd Boat and Charter Show.
