Croatia is a "gem" of a holiday destination
17 September 2010People who travel to Croatia for a holiday will be met by one of the most fascinating, cultural and historic locations in Europe.
Wu Shangyuan, writing for Today, says "Croatia is a gem of a tourist destination", before going on to praise its picturesque and quaint feel.
The author notes the country is particularly suitable for those who enjoy visiting ancient colonial cities, magnificent buildings and architecture and pretty cobbled streets.
"It whisks you right out of the modern world and into a quaint picture book where medieval history plays out all around," the travel expert states.
Croatia's location may also be at least partly responsible for its success, with the country offering both idyllic coastal settings as well as unspoilt countryside, all with a warm Mediterranean climate.
George Webster, writing for CNN, recently suggested the island of Korcula is a spot well worth visiting when on the Dalmatian coast.
