Croatia may prove best buy in holiday market
25 August 2009Holiday destinations need to react to the recession and make trips as affordable as possible for travellers.
That is the opinion of Francesca Ecsery, global sales director of Cheapflights, who noted that value travel is the key during the current economic downturn.
She said: "The long-haul market is far from dead but destinations do need to reflect the issues global consumers are having in the recession and remain affordable, relevant and appealing."
The travel expert did assert that low cost air travel to Asia has made Thailand a popular choice and budget breaks to Las Vegas are also proving a hit.
However, in its 2009 travel trends report, ABTA pointed out that Croatia is likely to be a popular choice for those looking to holiday on a budget.
"There are lots of reasons for visiting Croatia - for a short break in Dubrovnik, a family beach holiday or to go island-hopping between the 47 inhabited islands along the coast," it concluded.
