Croatia named as 'rising star'
10 November 2008Croatia has been highlighted as an up-and-coming tourist destination in a new international study.
The 2008 Country Brand Index, which was released today at the World Travel Market event in London, studies the areas that are experiencing increasingly popular with today's travelers.
According to the research, Croatia, along with China and the United Arab Emirates, are singled out by the organisation as being the three "rising stars" that could become major tourist destinations over the next five years.
The index, which is produced by FutureBrand, ranked Australia as the top country brand today, followed by Canada and the US.
Rene A Mack, president of Weber Shandwick's Travel and Lifestyle Global Practice, commented: "It's always fascinating to see which countries come out on top in branding themselves, generating global recognition and fueling the travel and tourism industry."
