Croatia qualifies for Eurovision final
23 May 2008Croatia will be among seven Balkan representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest in Serbia after qualifying from last night's semi-final.
Their entry, including the oldest competitor to go into tomorrow's final in Belgrade, performed a ballad to triumph over the competition.
Croatia's representatives, Kraljevi Ulice and 75-year-old 75 Cents, told the Eurovision website after their qualification they have been satisfied with their time in Belgrade so far.
They also expressed optimism ahead of the final.
"We are Kings of the street, we are representing a different kind of art in music. We are in the final, European people must have been impressed with our show," they said.
Of the 43 participating nations, only Croatia and 19 other countries managed to qualify for the final.
Serbia was automatically entered as the host nation having won Eurovision last year, while France, Germany, Spain and the UK also gain automatic qualification as the biggest financial contributors to the events.
