Croatia 'still great in winter'

Croatia is not just a summer holiday location, as the area of Dubrovnik is also ideal for a more peaceful winter break, according to a source.

Fewer people visit the country in the winter months, meaning there is less of a crowd and so a more genteel holiday is offered, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board states.

The colder climes do not mean travellers will be short on entertainment options, as a number of events, both musical and cultural, take place.

A Day for Love, a musical, is on offer, while comedy fans can also catch a show, while more serious theatre-goers have a variety of plays on offer, including The Twilight and The Miser.

Music fans will be able to see the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra in action, as they perform once a week at the Revelin Fort.

Visitors in February will also be treated to the Carnival City celebrations, running from February 14th to 21st.

Locals attend masked balls and watch the Dubrovnik Brass Band as they march around the streets.

People travelling in to Dubrovnik airport also have a host of onward travel options available to them, according to About.com.

Holidaymakers can hop straight on the bus service, which is the cheapest form of travel f to their hotel and runs regularly.ADNFCR-1197-ID-18886711-ADNFCR
