Croatia to remain open to Russian tourists
22 January 2009Russian travellers will continue enjoying the magic and splendour of Croatia for the foreseeable future, it has been reported.
As stated by the website Balkan Travellers, the Croatian government is to keep in place its lenient policy towards Russians entering the country without visas.
The Adriatic hotspot has soared in popularity with tourists from Russia in recent years, and appears that Croatian officials are keen to keep this revenue stream open.
According to Balkan Travellers, Croatia's ambassador to Russia, Nebojsa Koharovic, told the Interfax news agency: "We will exert maximum efforts in order for this lenient regime to be maintained in 201 as well."
Some of the most popular regions for Russian travellers include Istria and Kvnar, with many tourists from the former Soviet nation enjoying the unique food and drink on offer.
Earlier this month, a respected travel writer highlighted the Croatian Dalmatia as the perfect retreat for holidaymakers looking for new experiences, Star Exponent reported.
