Croatia tourism reviewed

Croatia receives more visitors from Germany and Italy than any other country, it has been revealed.

According to a tourism report by companiesandmarkets.com, these two nations as well as Slovenia, Austria and Czech Republic generate the highest number of people taking a holiday in Croatia.

Indeed, in Slovenia's case, there was a three per cent rise in people taking vacations in Croatia in 2008, compared to the previous 12-month period.

And although the number of visitors from the two main markets was down year-on-year, overall tourism - which includes domestic trips - was apparently up one per cent to almost 11.3 million tourists.

Buoyant visitor growth rates from far-flung destinations Japan and Australia, as well as the closer to home nations of Romania, Poland and Bulgaria, were also recorded.

With thousands of islands to choose from, a hot climate and a plethora of visitor attractions, it is perhaps no surprise that people keep choosing to holiday in Croatia.
